Henry Gene Timmons, 88, of Newburgh, IN, passed away peacefully in his home on the morning of Monday, June 12, 2017. He was born August 24, 1928.

He attended Millersburg High School where he met the love of his life, Delores June Heath. Family was everything to Gene. He and Delores always tried to attend every ball game his grandkids played in, and he loved to pile them all on the golf cart for rides. He was an avid golfer and even carved out a fairway and putting green on his twenty acre home place where the family had many friendly competitions. Gene was also an accomplished wood cutter who used to boast that he could drop a tree on a dime. He was especially proud of the fence he built along the front of their home.

Gene spent most of his career at L. Berman and Company which later became Zenith Corporation. He also enjoyed farming with his father-in-law for many years.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of sixty-nine years, Delores; her parents, Cecil and Esther Heath; his parents, Quincy and Opal Timmons; and sister, Louise Cranmer.

Gene is survived by his children, Steven (Stephanie) Timmons, Deborah Overton, Sheri (Thomas) Eberhard, and Brenda (Kevin) Vickrey, all of Newburgh; eight grandchildren, Sandy McAlpin, Anne Dimmett, Melanie Dicken, Allysyn Overton, Bryan and Courtney Eberhard, Ashley Beck, and Megan Vickrey; eleven great-grandchildren, Macy and Dawson Dimmett, Mackenzie and Madison Dicken, Myla and Brock McAlpin, Isabella, Cooper, and Kipton Eberhard, and Braxton and Barron Beck.

Friends may visit Wednesday, June 14, 2017, from 3:00 to 7:00 PM at Alexander Newburgh Chapel, 5333 State Road 261, with burial in Rose Hill Cemetery. Private services will be held Thursday.
