Lifelong Warrick County Indiana resident Wilber E. "Bud" Groeninger passed on Sunday, August 6, 2017 at Hamilton Pointe Health & Rehab in Newburgh, Indiana after four years of bravely battling cancer.

Bud's life was filled serving God and helping others. After marrying Beverly in 1957, Bud and Beverly were active in their church and focused on raising their children. Lifelong Warrick County Indiana resident Wilber E. "Bud" Groeninger passed on Sunday, August 6, 2017 at Hamilton Pointe Health & Rehab in Newburgh, Indiana after four years of bravely battling cancer.

Bud's life was filled serving God and helping others. After marrying Beverly in 1957, Bud and Beverly were active in their church and focused on raising their children. Bud worked at Squaw Creek Coal Mine for over 3 decades until he retired in 1999. During his career, he was a member and officer of the United Mine Workers of America, District 12, Local Union #1189. Bud served as president of the local for a total of 11 years and was serving as President at the time of his passing.

After retirement, Bud continued to spend time doing the things he enjoyed most which included being creative in his wood shop, caring for his well-manicured lawn, driving the bus for myriad church activities, and spending time with this children and grandchildren. Bud most recently attended Crossroads Christian Church in Newburgh. Above all, he treasured the time he spent helping others, which brought him great joy.

Bud is preceded in death by his parents, Beatrice and Wilbren Groeninger; and son, Michael Groeninger.

He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Beverly Groeninger; daughters, Julie Carr and Amy Mills; sons, Mark Groeninger and Steven Groeninger; granddaughters, Ashley Carr, Kristin Carr and Molly Carr; grandson, Michael William Mills; and sons-in-law, Greg Carr and Michael E. Mills. He is also survived by his sister, Anna Feagley; her children, Elizabeth Feagley-Salm, JoAnn Feagley-McCallister, Barbara Feagley-Hurt, Annette Feagley-Gibbs; and grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 1:00-4:00 pm on Saturday, August 12, 2017, at Alexander Newburgh Chapel with a remembrance service beginning at 4:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made in memory of Bud to the Evansville Rescue Mission, 500 E. Walnut Street, Evansville, IN 47713.
